Our dear friend, Deborah, is the reason we began traveling. In 2011, we were discussing our desire to take a "real vacation" and she urged us to join her at her time-share in Cabo San Lucas. So, after getting our passports, we ventured down to Mexico with her in March of 2012.
Since that first trip, Deborah has joined us in Barcelona, Madrid and Seville. She is a hoot to travel with! We've even given her many nicknames during our travels together. She is our Maravilla, (Spanish for butterfly). We gave her this nickname early on during our trip to Barcelona when we realized that walking though a shopping district with Deborah is like watching a butterfly flutter in the wind. It helps that she wears colorful scarves that are reminiscent of a butterfly's wings. Later on during that same trip, we were eating dinner (at 10pm) when a Scandinavian couple sitting next to us remarked that they thought it was sweet that we would bring out mother with us on holiday. Her reaction was priceless! So now we also affectionately refer to her as "mother" LOL.
She's an incredible woman who can lay poolside like an Olympic champion. Some of our favorite quotes from her include:
"En español por favor"
"I'll be ready in 10 more minutes"
"I want to take a nap"
and our favorite...
"Bleh! This sangria has salt on the rim!"
