The site of our first venture outside of the United States, Cabo San Lucas will always be a special place for us. Cabo and its neighboring town, San Jose del Cabo, are the perfect long weekend getaway. While Cabo can be busy with a vibrant night life, shopping and tourist attractions, its sleepy neighbor, San Jose del Cabo offers a quite retreat from the hustle and bustle of it more popular counterpart. Between the two town, you are bound to find your happy place.
Chris returns to Cabo every October for work, that is, if you call fishing, laying by a pool and hosting customers at cocktail parties work. The resorts in between both towns are a great alternative so you can take full advantage of what both have to offer. We prefer San Jose del Cabo during the day for a more authentic Mexican cultural experience and Cabo San Lucas at night for its amazing restaurants and vibrant nightlife.
Among our favorite activities is zip lining over the surrounding desert and tequila tasting. We were blown away at some of the exotic flavors the local tequila distillers have concocted. These are not your typical cheap Jose Cuervo tequilas. These are refined, smooth and complex tequilas that will surprise even the most discerning pallets.
Another attraction that is worth a visit is town of Todos Santos. Its an art colony located 100km north of Cabo (approximately 2 hour drive). We recommend a visit to the Hotel California. It's a beautiful hotel with cool ocean breezes across its property. Lunch in the hotel restaurant was delicious and was just what we needed during our day trip to Todos Santos.
Meanwhile, back in Cabo, you can find accommodations to suit everyone. Some resorts are basic and simple, others are extravagant and exclusive (Palmilla is a favorite of the Hollywood elite). Either way, you are sure to find something for everyone while visiting Cabo San Lucas.
